Christa and Gerald Schönfeldinger

World-Leading Performers

Christa and Gerald Schönfeldinger are among the world’s leading performers on the glass harmonica and the verrophone, a modern glass instrument. They have succeeded in elevating the partially preserved “historical” playing techniques to a new level, expanding glass instrument performance with new techniques and contemporary musical aesthetics.

Detached from the conventional concert circuit, the Vienna Glass Harmonica Duo offers a symbiosis of poetic, virtuoso chamber music and meditative soundscapes. Their performances include appearances at: Royal Albert Hall London, the Vienna Musikverein, the Vienna State Opera, the Salzburg Festival, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Menuhin Festival Gstaad, the Schleswig-Holstein Festival, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Warsaw Philharmonic, Int. Mozart Week Salzburg, Carinthian Summer, Int. Haydn Days Eisenstadt, Dresden Music Festival, Bayreuth, Paris, Milan, Rome, Florence, Helsinki, Amsterdam, and Washington.

They have collaborated with many artists, including: Wolfgang Lackerschmid, Ferry Janoska, Marino Formenti, Peter Wagner, Senta Berger, Ruth Maria Kubitschek, Erika Pluhar, Christiane Hörbiger, and Christian L. Attersee.
